Before we go trahsing the Savage's top end, how many times do I have to tell you people. OIL! OIL! OIL!. I'm closing in on 50,000 miles. No problems yet. I never let the oil go below the upper line and change it every 2,500 miles and run synthetic blend. Don't follow the manual about the oil level should be between the lower and full mark. That's crap. This bike does not hold much lubrication. Don't overfill, but at least give it enough so that the window is almost filled. I have found this bike to be pretty reliable if you don't neglect it.
